For the Love of San Diego
Happy Fourth of July! I hope you’re kicking back with friends and family somewhere fun (and relaxing!). I’m spending the holiday with my family, having a staycation in sunny San Diego. If you’ve never been, this blog is for you. If you have, but are planing on visiting again, this blog is for you too! Without further ado, here are some of favorite spots in San Diego:
Beaches
I live close to Torrey Pines State National Park, and this is my go to happy spot on a weekly basis. It is filled with relaxing beaches, great trails for hiking, running and biking, and spectacular views. This park has it all whether you decide to adventure there by yourself or with the whole family. I love to run up the paved trail to the top, hike down to the beach, take my shoes off and enjoy a nice walk along the shore with the sand between my toes, fresh salty air, and the ocean just steps away.
Cardiff State Beach has some amazing cliffs with vibrant, spacious beach areas where you can relax and get lost in a book or simply mediate with the soothing ocean sounds in the background. Not into the whole sit on a beach ALL day thing, don’t worry! There’s plenty of things to do (boogie boarding, paddle boarding, swimming, snorkeling, body surfing…the list goes on) at Cardiff to plan a fun filled day.
Pipes is a fun and popular spot for swimmers, surfers and runners.
George’s is just south of the San Elijo Lagoon river mouth and is the area’s “Restaurant Row” located right above the beach on Highway 101.
San Elijo has a nice campground, so after you enjoy all your afternoon activities make sure to bring all the necessary items to camp that night… oh, and don’t forget the ingredients to make s’mores (YUM)!
Cafe & Food Spots
If you love Italian, put this on your list. The pasta, seafood, wine.. Pretty much everything on their menu is great!
My favorite are the meatballs and brussel sprouts (they have a kick to them, hot sauce added). For pizza, the date + ricotta + bacon I can eat a whole one..by myself (don’t judge!). And of course, the pappardelle for a pasta dish, it’s rich and filling.
I enjoy sitting on their patio with Potpot or if I’m at home working the night away, I will order take out from there using the app: DoorDash. If you are visiting San Diego and have the whole day planned with activity after activity, this is a great casual, quick lunch spot. The mac and cheese is a must (my mouth is drooling just thinking about it. I also love their chopped vegetable salad, skinny cobb salad and thai cashew quinoa bowl.
Plant based meals once or twice a day have become a standard part of my diet as of lately. I enjoy this spot because I love Mexican and this place offers a couple yummy Mexican dishes with lots of flavor while still being super healthy. Sharing nachos and the mucho Mexican bowl are my two favorites!

Meditation Gardens – Self Realization Fellowship
This place should without a doubt be on your list to visit. The gardens are healing in so many ways and they have meditation sitting areas all throughout the space. Views of the Ocean and ponds with Koi swimming around gives you the ability to become centered within.
In the evening don’t forget to take a moment to watch the beautiful San Diego sunset. When I have guests in town this is where we venture to, to enjoy drinks on the patio and watch the sunset. Over looking the ocean, the Plaza has one of the best views in town! Plus there are plenty of shops, art galleries, and restaurants to enjoy.
There are many more places for me to see and discover in this lovely city that I am lucky to call my home, but those are just some of favorites so far. I hope you enjoy them and they become a favorite of yours as well!
